The Ohioana Collection Builders Project is an effort to fill in gaps in the collection, in which donors are
encouraged to fund the purchase of out-of-print, scarce, and rare titles that the library needs. Use this
form to participate in the Ohioana Collection Builders Project.
From works that feature a wide range of genres and prices, you can fund the purchase of Sue Grafton’s first novel or Mildred Benson’s last.
You can ensure that John Jakes' The Conquest of the Planet of the Apes is preserved for future futurists, or provide users with a
backwards glance at what thirty-five cents could buy in 1961 by financing the purchase of Round the Clock at Volari’s, W. R. Burnett’s
hardboiled tangle of honor and harlots. (The book sells for $90 now due to Burnett’s popularity. Several of his novels were adapted for film, including
High Sierra, Asphalt Jungle, Scarface, and Little Caesar, the movie that catapulted Edward G. Robinson into stardom.)
Mystery, memoir, science fiction, and children’s literature are the genres that have resonated with donors thus far.
Included in the mix is a signed copy of Rosemary Clooney’s first autobiography (she had two) and a first edition of one of
Lois Lenski’s dear “little” books for little hands.
