The Ohioana Award for Editorial Excellence was established in 1979. The award is given for Editorial Excellence by an
Ohio-based magazine or journal. In 1988, the Board of Trustees named the award in honor of James P. Barry, former Director of the
Ohioana Library Association and Editor of the Ohioana Quarterly.

CRITERIA
Any Ohio-based serial (magazine, journal, newspaper, etc.) that covers subjects of interest to the Ohioana Library, namely literature, history, culture, the arts, or the general humanities.
