The Ohioana Award for Children's Literature was established in 1990 and is made possible by a bequest from Alice Louise Ridenour Wood.
The award of $1,000 is given yearly to an Ohio author of children's literature for a body of work or for a lifetime of contributions to children's literature.
DEADLINE. December 31
CRITERIA
The recipient must have been born in Ohio or lived in Ohio for a minimum of five years.
The recipient must have established a distinguished publishing record of books for children and young people.
Body of work has made, and continues to make, a significant contribution to the literature for young people.
Through the recipient's work as a writer, teacher, administrator, and in community service, interest in children's literature has been encouraged and children have become involved with reading.
It is desirable for the recipient to be present at Ohioana Day to receive to award.
