Laura Maylene Walter grew up in Lancaster, PA and attended Washington College in Maryland. She moved to Ohio in 2004 and has called Lakewood her home ever since.
Her fiction has appeared in Inkwell, American Literary Review, Crab Creek Review, South Dakota Review, and others. Her essays about writing have appeared in Poets & Writers, The Writer
magazine and on the American Literary Review website. Laura has received numerous awards for her work including the 2010 G.S. Sharat Chandra Prize for Short Fiction,
2011 Pushcart Prize nomination for “Live Model,” and the 2003 Sophie Kerr Prize, Washington College. The Sophie Kerr Prize is the nation’s largest undergraduate literary award given to the graduating
Washington College senior “demonstrating the best potential for literary achievement.”
