Prolific and much-honored writer Margaret Peterson Haddix is the 2008 Ohioana Book Award winner in the category of Juvenile Literature for her novel
Uprising, the story of the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory fire of 1911 in New York City. School Library Journal says of

Margaret has been writing books for children and teens sine 1995. Prior to making writing her full-time career,
Margaret attended Miami University in Oxford where she studied English, journalism, creative writing, and history.
She has been a newspaper reporter, a teacher, and a freelance writer. Margaret grew up on a farm outside of Washington Court House, Ohio, and dreamed of being a writer ever since childhood.
Named a “Literary Light for Children” by the Associates of the Boston Public Library in 2007, Margaret is no stranger to awards and accolades.
Her books routinely achieve status as Junior Library Guild selections and make the list for various honors, such as the Iowa Children’s Choice Award,
the Great Lakes Book Award, and awards from the American Booksellers Association and the American Library Association.
