Nicole McClelland, formerly of Cleveland, Ohio
Nicole McClelland was born in Cleveland and grew up in Lake County. After graduating from Lake Catholic High School,
she moved to Columbus to attend Ohio State University, where she earned a B.A. in English and psychology.
She then enrolled at the University of New Orleans, where she received an M.F.A. in nonfiction writing.
McClelland has worked as an English instructor and translator in Thailand, a composition instructor at the University of New Orleans,
Capital University, and Columbus State Community College, and most recently as a copy editor for
Mother Jones magazine in San Francisco.
She has been the recipient of the 2005 Samuel Mockbee Award for Nonfiction and the 2007 Creative Writing Workshop Service Award
from the University of New Orleans.
