Andrea Cheng has written
several books for children and young adults that deal with multi-ethnic and intergenerational issues.
Born in El Paso, TX, Cheng has lived most of her life in Cincinnati.
She graduated from Cornell University, first with a B.A. then an M.S. in linguistics.
Cheng has been a featured speaker at such conferences as the Central Ohio Writer’s
Conference and the Virginia Hamilton Children’s Literature Conference, and her books have earned numerous awards,
including the 2003 Parent’s Choice Award, the 2003 Cleveland Public Library Book of the Year, and the 2007 Bank Street
College Best Children’s Book of the Year.
