Jerry Mallett, Findlay Ohio
In 1981, Dr. Jerry Mallett established the Mazza Museum of International Art which is devoted to the collection and
preservation of children’s book art at what was then called Findlay College.
The museum currently features more than 3,000 works of art.
Dr. Mallett was born in Toledo and educated at Ohio University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree,
then continued on for his Master of Education and Doctor of Education at the University of Toledo.
He received the 1983 Distinguished Education Award from the Ohio Chamber of Commerce and the 1987 Ohio Independent Colleges and
Universities Award for Outstanding Teacher.
Currently also a professor of education at the University of Findlay, Dr. Mallett is the author of more than fifty books, more than
half of them for children, and the rest of them professional books for teachers and librarians.
