David Catrow, Springfield, Ohio

The illustrator of more than forty children’s books, David Catrow was a pre-med major at Kent State University, but dropped out in the late 1970s to devote his time to drawing. Along with illustrating children’s books, he also has worked as a syndicated editorial cartoonist for the Springfield News-Sun and as the illustrator for Mike Capuzzo’s syndicated weekly pet column, “Wild Things.”

Catrow has won ten Associated Press Awards, as well as two New York Times Book Review Best Illustrated Book honors. His Ain’t Gonna Paint No More was selected as an American Library Association Notable Children’s Book.
