Ohioana Poetry Book Award: 2006

Elton Glaser for Here and Hereafter: Poems
University of Arkansas Press 2005

Elton Glaser has long been a driving force in poetry on both the state and national levels. Along with his own six full-length collections of poetry, he serves as the editor of the University of Akron Press’s Akron Series in Poetry, and he and fellow poet and Ohioana Award winner William Greenway edited I Have My Own Song for It: Modern Poems of Ohio, a collection published as part of Ohio’s Bicentennial celebration in 2003.

His awards include two fellowships from the National Endowment for the Arts, five fellowships from the Ohio Arts Council, the Iowa Poetry Prize, and the Ohioana Helen & Laura Krout Poetry Prize.

Originally from New Orleans, Glaser has lived in Akron and has taught at the University of Akron since 1972.
