One museum director has called Ann Hamilton “the best installation artist who has come out of America,” and quite a few critics and art lovers
have agreed. Her highly conceptual and original artwork has earned her a number of honors, including a National Endowment for the Arts
Visual Artist Fellowship, the Ohio Governor’s Award, a Guggenheim Fellowship, and the much coveted MacArthur Fellowship.
She has exhibited at the Musee Art Contemporain Lyon in France and the Akira Ikeda Gallery in Japan, and in 1999,
she served as the American representative at the Venice Biennale.
Born in Ohio, Hamilton returned to her home state in 1992 to teach at Ohio State University.
