Jan Wahl is the
author of well over 100 children’s books. Born in Columbus and raised in Toledo, Wahl earned his bachelor’s
degree at Cornell University, where he was a student of Vladimir Nabokov’s. A Fulbright scholarship to the
University of Copenhagen led to working with director Carl Theodor Dreyer on the classic film Ordet (The Word)
and serving as secretary for a time to author Isak Dinesen as she wrote Last Tales.
His work has received
numerous awards, among them the Avery Hopwood Award in fiction from the University of Michigan,
an American Library Association Notable Book citation and the Parents’ Choice Literary Award.
