David Gold

David Gold recently retired from the Ohio Legislative Service Commission, where he worked as an attorney. He holds a PhD in history from The Ohio State University and is the author or editor of eight books and numerous articles in law and history journals. In addition to The Great Tea Party in the Old Northwest, his books include two volumes on his native Sullivan County, New York; three judicial biographies; one collection of Civil War letters; and a history of the Ohio General Assembly. His latest book, The Jacksonian Conservatism of Rufus P. Ranney: The Politics and Jurisprudence of a Northern Democrat from the Age of Jackson to the Gilded Age, was published in 2017 by Ohio University Press.
