Andrew Welsh-Huggins

By day, Andrew Welsh-Huggins is an editor and reporter for the Associated Press in Columbus. By earlier in the day he is the editor of the “Columbus Noir” anthology from Akashic Books, a collection of 14 mystery stories each set in a different Columbus neighborhood. Andrew is also the author of the Andy Hayes private eye series, featuring a former Ohio State and Cleveland Browns quarterback turned investigator. In Andrew’s new novel, “An Empty Grave,” Hayes investigates the forty-year-old disappearance of a burglary suspect who shot a police officer and then vanished from sight, and along the way exposes long-hidden crimes and cover-ups. Andrew’s nonfiction book, “No Winners Here Tonight,” is the definitive history of Ohio’s death penalty. When he’s not writing or reporting, Andrew enjoys running, reading, spending time with family, and trying to remember why having three cats, a dog and two parakeets seemed like a good idea at the time.
